IS IT RIGHT TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?

Christmas is a time of spiritual reflection on the important foundation of the Christian faith. It is a time when Christian celebrate God's love for the world through the birth of the child Jesus. It is all about God sending His son into the world as part of his plan to bring salvation to people everywhere.

In my few years on earth I have encountered a number of Christians who argue that Christian should not celebrate Christmas because they believe history has it that Christmas stem from both pagan and Roman cultures.Though the Roman actually celebrated two holidays in the month of December, saturnalia, the god of agriculture and the birth of Mithra, the sun god which is celebrated on December 25th.
The actual birth day of Jesus Christ is not known. If December 25th is pagan date but now converted to the celebration of Jesus Christ, does it matter? I don't believe so,how it originally came into Christian celebrations is immaterial, what matters is what we do with them now. I remembered one lovely father in my town in Nigeria that died and his children has no clue to the actual day he was born, in order to immortalised the man ,a date was arrived at and selected and yearly they keep on holding a posthumous birthday celebration to remember and honour their father because of his love and efforts to give them a quality life and education at the expense of his own personal enjoyment and this have kept the memory of the father alive, even great grand children that didn't know the man has come to learnt about his activities when he was on the earth, so the date of birth was irrelevant but the fact remains that he came to this world and educate his children.
The first recorded celebration of Christmas was in Rome in 330AD according to history.com and the first recorded time it was called Christ Mass in 1038.
As a Christian, christmas is a time to remember God coming to live among us, starting in the womb of virgin Mary, born in a manger, celebrated by some and hated by others,he proclaimed the coming of the kingdom of God. Dying on a Roman cross as the atoning sacrifice for the sin of the world and raised to life on the 3rd day. Whether Jesus was born on December 25th or not is immaterial, what matters is that he was born and began his life and work among us.Should you, as Christian celebrate Christmas or not, the choice is yours, Colossians 3:17 " And whatever you do or say,do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the father.". Apostle Paul gave us a clear point to follow in Romans 14:5-6a "in the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honour him". Don't look down on or condemn others who celebrate Christmas or those who do not believe in it.
The bible was silent about the date but was not silent about the purpose as it is written in Isaiah 7:14 " Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign, behold a virgin shall conceive and bear à son and shall call his name Immanuel". This was fulfilled, so we must recognise this and celebrate Jesus Christ. What ever date you choose to celebrate Jesus is left for you, all that matters is that let the whole world hear about him that he was born, the saviour of the earth, even those that worship the sun god on December 25th has forgotten about that sun god but now celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Every year those who has forgotten are reminded at every December 25th that Jesus the saviour was born into this earth for our salvation.Even the atheist can not deny it that every December 25th the noise of Jesus birth echo in their ears all over the world. Let us celebrate him and put denomination aside, there will be surprised in heaven.
